I don't know what happened yesterday but I do know it was all about Jeff's. For some reason Jeff Hammond came out looking like a complete jackass but I'll get to that later. It was Jeff Gordon that really stole the show. I would never have predicted it but he was bound to win sooner or later. I was assuming and hoping it would be later, but he earned it. He has been clearly making progress all season and it all paid off in victory lane. He fixed the problems he was having early on and found his groove. I'll have to agree and it seems like lucky number 17 for Jeff Gordon. I might have to play that in the lottery this week.
But more importantly, why the hell was Jeff Hammond wearing that ascot? I get it, it was Texas and he wanted to live it up. I think he should take a pointer from Larry Mac and turn this into a weekly thing, like the short lived magic tricks. Just consider this for a moment, each week Jeff Hammond comes out wearing a costume for the region. The race will be in Phoenix, so he has an extra week to prepare. He already has the leathered tanned skin look, all he has to do is wear a bunch of jewelry bedazzled with turquoise and he's got it. It doesn't have to end at Texas. This beautiful country has such a vast demographic he can always look like a fool.
Well, that's all I got for today but I haven't forgotten about my promise. I'll be writing about the parelles of FOX's coverage and how its marketed directly at the NASCAR pothead.
